Studio Policies

Welcome to April’s School of Dance. Our policies are designed to create a safe, positive, and organized environment for all dancers and families.

Registration and Tuition

  • A non‑refundable registration fee is due at the time of enrollment.

  • Tuition is charged monthly and is due on the 10th of each month.

  • Payments may be made by cash, check, or through the Studio Pro Portal.

  • A late fee will be added to accounts that are not paid by the posted due date.

  • Tuition reserves your dancer’s place in class and is not reduced for missed classes or holidays.

Attendance and Make‑Up Classes

  • Regular attendance is important for your dancer’s progress and for the class as a whole.

  • Please arrive 5–10 minutes before class so dancers are ready to begin on time.

  • If your dancer will be absent, please notify the studio as soon as possible.

  • Make‑up classes may be offered when space allows, but are not guaranteed.

  • Repeated absences may result in loss of a class spot or reassignment to a different class level.

Drop‑Off and Pick‑Up

  • For safety, dancers should be accompanied into the studio by an adult.

  • Please pick up dancers promptly at the end of class.

  • April’s School of Dance is not responsible for students outside of scheduled class times.

  • Families must keep emergency contact information up to date on the Studio Pro Portal App.

Dress Code

  • Dancers are expected to follow the posted dress code for each class style.

  • Proper dancewear, tights, and shoes help teachers see alignment and help prevent injury.

  • Hair should be secured away from the face (buns for ballet, ponytail or braid for most other classes).

  • No large jewelry, dangly earrings, or watches in class.

  • Street shoes are not allowed on studio floors.

Classroom Etiquette

  • Students are expected to show respect for teachers, classmates, and studio property.

  • No gum, food, or open drinks are allowed in the studios (water in closed containers is permitted).

  • Cell phones must remain silenced and put away during class.

  • Disruptive behavior may result in a student being asked to sit out or, in repeated cases, dismissal from the class.

Communication

  • Studio updates, schedule changes, and important reminders are sent by email and can be found on the Studio Pro Portal app under More, click News and Notes, and click Email History- also under studio schedule.

  • Please check your email regularly for announcements.

  • Questions about placement, progress, or policies can be directed to the front desk or via email.

Weather and Emergency Closures

  • In the event of inclement weather or emergency, the studio may close or adjust class times.

  • Closure information will be shared by email and social media.

  • Make‑up options for weather‑related closures will be offered when possible but are not guaranteed.

Recital and Performances

  • Details about recital dates, fees, tickets, and costumes will be provided early in the season.

  • Participation in the annual recital is strongly encouraged, but some classes may be non‑performance.

  • Costume balances and recital fees must be paid in full by the posted deadlines.

  • Attendance at mandatory rehearsals is required to perform in the show.

Health and Safety

  • Please keep dancers home if they are sick, have a fever, or show contagious symptoms.

  • Notify the studio of any medical conditions, injuries, or allergies that may affect participation.

  • Teachers may modify movement for dancers returning from injury, with parent guidance when needed.

  • The studio follows basic safety guidelines for class sizes, warm‑ups, and classroom supervision.

Withdrawals and Refunds

  • If you need to withdraw from a class, written notice (email or form) is required.

  • Tuition is charged until written notice is received; we do not backdate withdrawals.

  • Registration fees and recital fees are non‑refundable.

  • Costume fees are refundable only if the costume has not been ordered.

Code of Conduct

  • We strive for a positive, encouraging atmosphere for all dancers and families.

  • Bullying, harassment, or disrespectful behavior (in person or online) will not be tolerated.

  • The studio reserves the right to dismiss any student or family who violates policies or disrupts the learning environment.
